“Self care removed from the context of revolutionary action/situation is simply the reproduction of the labor commodity.”
Also, everyone needs to read B. Loewe’s An End to Self Care. Self-care means that some of us get taken care of, and those of us without the privilege/time/resources to take care of themselves, or who depend on the struggle for life-giving empowerment/are working in collective ways where people depend on them for life-giving empowerment, DON’T GET TAKEN CARE OF.
We need to collectivize emotional and care labor, so that nobody gets left behind. We can’t heal emotionally without changing the material conditions that control our emotions (revolution), and we can’t have revolution without being able to build the capacity to do our emotional labor (collective care). Expecting people to fully heal without destroying capitalism and making a new society is individualistic, liberal, victim-blaming. Trying to make revolution without being able to take control of our emotional means of production and have healthy relationships is impossible. FOR COLLECTIVE CARE AND ANTI-CAPITALIST REVOLUTION.
